Several Instagram users in India have complained about the app's issues during the past several hours. An image- and video-sharing programme called Instagram is owned by Facebook.
The outage reportedly started on Wednesday morning when the app locked users out of the app, according to Downdetector, an online platform that offers users real-time information on the status of various websites and services. Twitter problems were also noted on the website Downdetector.
Instagram is unavailable for some users in India
The "DM" or "direct messages" feature is not working for people to communicate with one another. Nearly 500 people in India complained to DownDetector about having trouble accessing Instagram. When there is an abnormally large number of problem reports compared to the usual volume at that time of day, DownDetector flags it as an incident.
36 percent of those impacted reported server connection issues, 52 percent experienced app troubles, and 12 percent had trouble logging in. On Wednesday, the outage peaked at 11 a.m., according to the website.
